The End of my Teaching Practice at Boston School

Image
Thursday 27, 2025,  marked the end of my teaching practice journey at Boston Primary and Infant  School. It’s hard to put into words just how much this experience has meant to me. From the very  beginning, it was filled with so many lessons both for me as a teacher and as a person. My time at  Boston Primary has shaped me in ways I never imagined. One thing that stood out throughout this experience was the sleepless nights. Lesson planning was a challenge I didn’t fully expect. There were many nights when I stayed up late, sometimes until the early hours of the morning, working on lesson plans, preparing materials, and making sure everything was just right. And let me tell you, the next day, when I had to wake up early for school and teach those lessons, I would find myself running on almost no sleep, struggling to keep my eyes open. But no matter how tired I was, I couldn’t let that show. I had to give my best to the students, even when my body was begging for res...

Sports Day

Image
Hello readers, Today was the big day “Sports Day!” and 🔥🔥 BROWN-WEST 🔥🔥 was more ready than ever! From the moment I woke up, I was filled with excitement and in great spirits. 🔥🔥 BROWN-WEST 🔥🔥 ’s   house colour is red, so naturally, I came out in my red gear, all ready to support my amazing students. The morning started with a quick task we made name tags for the runners before diving straight into the final cheerleading practice. After practice, we got the cheerleaders dressed, and oh my goodness, they looked absolutely adorable. Cheerleading was one of the morning events, but because of the rain, it got delayed and didn’t start until the afternoon. Then came the cheerleading performance, and let me tell you, my girls made me so proud! They did an outstanding job. Though they didn’t win, they came in second place, losing by only two points to the other house, which was also very good. Honestly, both teams were amazing, but I couldn’t have been prouder of my girl...

A Day of Team Spirit and Preparat

Today marked the thirteenth   day of our teaching journey, and we started off with an an exciting house devotion cheering and dancing. So instead of diving into lessons, today was all about getting the students ready for the big event tomorrow “Sports Day!” As part of the excitement, we led the   🔥🔥 BROWN-WEST 🔥🔥   cheerleading practice session to prepare the students for their performances. The atmosphere was electric as the students got into their cheerleading routines and practiced their chants, stunts, and runs. It was a fun and fulfilling day, and I could feel the team spirit growing in the room. The students were really cooperative, showing enthusiasm and commitment as they show their skills. Watching them train, I felt a sense of pride in how well they came together as a team. Everyone was eager to learn, and their energy was on point. Though there wasn’t a traditional lesson today for all the students, it was a great reminder of how physical activity,...

Assessment Day

Image
Welcome back to my blog! Today was one of those big days. It was the day my teaching supervisor came to observe and assess me as part of my journey as a student teacher. My prayer this morning was simple: “Lord, let everything go smoothly today.” My peer and I arrived at school extra early we wanted to make sure everything was just right. Charts in place, board written up and all technologies tested. After an uplifting school devotion, I did a final check on the electronics, and then, just like that, my supervisor appeared. The moment I saw his foot at the classroom door, my heart dropped for a second. I won’t lie I was a little nervous. But I took a deep breath, reminded myself of all the work I’d put into planning, and said to myself, “You’ve got this.” We started our lesson on Symmetry in Geometrical Shapes, and it was one of the most fulfilling teaching experiences I’ve had so far. We kicked things off with a fun and catchy “Lines of Symmetry” song that had everyone singing a...

Introductory Lesson on Lines of Symmetry

Image
Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog! Today was one of those days that reminded me exactly why I love being in the classroom. Our for today was an introductory lesson on lines of symmetry, and let me tell you it was a lesson filled with creativity and excitement. We kicked off  the lesson by writing two words on the board: cemetery and symmetry. It sparked some curiosity; we dove into a fun game called “Dictionary in Hand.” Students worked together to look up and share the meanings of both words. This simple activity helped them recognize the correct vocabulary in a memorable way and of course, they quickly figured out which word fit the activity we were about to do. We had an discussion on the topic so the students could understand the concept of the lesson. Next, we moved into a hands-on demonstration using a plain sheet of paper. I folded it in half and creased it down the middle. When I opened it, I explained that if a shape folds in a way that its edges match perfectly, the...

Revision Day

Good evening everyone today was a little different from our usual schedule. Classes ended earlier than usual due to the DA Sports event. Despite the shortened school day, we made the most of our time and kept things productive and meaningful. With the week winding down, my students and I used the opportunity to review the lessons we had covered over the past few days. It turned out to be a great way to refresh their memory and reinforce key concepts. The atmosphere in class was especially calm and focused. Many of the more challenging students were absent, which led to fewer distractions and a smoother lesson overall. The students who were present were engaged, attentive, and in great spirits. I could tell they appreciated the slower pace, and it gave me a chance to check in with a few of them one-on-one.  Later in the day, we had another cheerleading practice. I’m so proud of how far the team has come! While there are still a few parts of the routine that need to more practice...

From Numbers to Cheer

Hello again, Today was one of those days that just made my heart full. The day started off on such a beautiful note with one of the most uplifting and spirit-filled devotions. It really set the tone for the rest of the day and reminded me of how blessed I am to be on this journey. After devotion, we moved into our math lesson, where we taught our Grade 4 students about multiplication of decimals. I was so excited to dive into this topic because we had planned a very interactive lesson. We started with a simple discussion to activate their prior knowledge and help them connect decimals to real life. To build on that, we watched a short YouTube video that broke the concept down step-by-step. The kids were really engaged, and I could tell they were soaking it in. Then came the highlight of the lesson, our “Decimal War” card game. The students were placed in groups, and they practiced multiplying decimals using playing cards. It was fun, competitive, and educational all in one. Late...
