My First Day Teaching

March 17, 2025, marked the first day I actually taught the class. I was a little nervous at first, but once I began the lesson starting with a catchy song about Addition of Decimals, the cheerful voices of the children quickly made me feel more comfortable. Singing along with them and using a decimal chart that outlined the rules for addition helped to grab their attention and keep them engaged.

While teaching, I glanced at the class teacher and saw a smile on her face that’s when I knew I was doing well. With support from my peer, we delivered a wonderful lesson that went even better than we expected. The students were attentive, actively participating, and completing their work which surprised me.

After the lesson, the class teacher told us that we had gotten students to do work who normally never participate in class. Hearing that really boosted my confidence and made the experience feel even more rewarding especially since it was our first lesson.

This experience helped me realize that creating a fun, supportive learning environment can really reach students who may not usually respond. It also showed me that I’m capable of more than I sometimes give myself credit for. This first day has made me even more excited for the days ahead. I’m motivated to keep growing, improving, and finding creative ways to help my students learn and enjoy the classroom experience.

Strategies used in the lesson

To make my lesson interactive and effective, We used a variety of strategies that captured students attention and encouraged active participation throughout the lesson. We started with a catchy song about adding decimals, which not only set a fun tone but also helped reinforce key vocabulary and concepts in a memorable way. We then used visual aids, such as a chart outlining the rules for decimal addition, to build students understanding step by step. 



To keep the energy high and the learning collaborative, We've included a Decimal Addition Relay Race. This game allowed students to solve problems in teams, taking turns at the board, which made practice fun and built teamwork.

Introductory Lesson on Lines of Symmetry

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog! Today was one of those days that reminded me exactly why I love being in the classroom. Our for today was an introductory lesson on lines of symmetry, and let me tell you it was a lesson filled with creativity and excitement. We kicked off  the lesson by writing two words on the board: cemetery and symmetry. It sparked some curiosity; we dove into a fun game called “Dictionary in Hand.” Students worked together to look up and share the meanings of both words. This simple activity helped them recognize the correct vocabulary in a memorable way and of course, they quickly figured out which word fit the activity we were about to do. We had an discussion on the topic so the students could understand the concept of the lesson. Next, we moved into a hands-on demonstration using a plain sheet of paper.
